Fretoi Observatory
Overview
This observatory stands on a small hill overlooking the Koshimizu Wild Flower Garden and the Sea of Okhotsk.
It is adjacent to JR Hamakoshimizu Station and Roadside Station Hanayaka (Hananohana) Koshimizu. In February, when the drift ice comes ashore, you can see the entire coast from Abashiri to the Shiretoko Peninsula, and the 360-degree view is a great place to watch beautiful sunrises and sunsets.
