Overview
On the north side of the Nemuro Peninsula, on the way to Cape Nosappu on Highway 35, you will see a low tree with a unique shape. This is the Quercus serrata windbreak forest, which is designated as a cultural asset by Nemuro City. This shape was formed during the growth process of the trees, as they were exposed to the fury of nature, such as the strong winds unique to the peninsula and the ice and snow of the sea in winter, and their existence as a group is very precious.
