SPOT
Drift Ice and Ice Booms (Ryugudai Observation Deck)
Impressed by the breath of nature
Every year in late January, drift ice pushes in along the coast of the Sea of Okhotsk. The drift ice that flows into Lake Saroma often destroys oyster and scallop cultivation facilities and causes serious damage, and the world's first ice boom was built at the mouth of the lake to prevent such damage.
The Ryugudai Observation Deck is also a great place to see drift ice up close, and you can even touch the drift ice directly. However, it is dangerous, so please do not climb on the drift ice.
