Drift ice and ice boom (Ryugudai Observatory)
Be moved by the breath of nature
Every year in late January, drift ice washes up onto the coast of the Sea of Okhotsk. Drift ice that flows into Lake Saroma often destroys oyster and scallop farming facilities, causing serious damage, so the world's first ice boom was built at the mouth of the lake to prevent such damage.
The Ryugudai Observatory is a great spot to see the drift ice up close, and you can even touch it. However, it is dangerous, so please do not climb on the drift ice.
