This is not a huge portion, but a normal portion! The "Cabbage Tendon" at Nampolo Onsen is too good to be true!
Speaking of hot spring facilities, one of the pleasures of visiting one is the time spent relaxing at the dining area. However, "Nampolo Hot Spring Heart & Heart" (hereafter referred to as "Nampolo Hot Spring") in Minamihoro Town has a specialty menu that some customers enjoy mainly for the meal. We tried to order the menu, which is said to be "absolute ace.
Nampolo Onsen is located about 45 minutes by car from the center of Sapporo. It is a rather large facility with a hotel attached. The parking lot is also spacious!
Of course, we were interested in the hot spring, but first we headed to the restaurant in the facility to try the specialty menu. If you just want to use the restaurant, you don't need to pay an entrance fee, which is very conscientious.
The name of the restaurant is "Restaurant Ajishin. When you enter the restaurant and look at the menu, it is easy to tell which are the specialties. At the top of the menu was written, "The absolute ace of Dantotsu favorites. I placed my order and waited excitedly for it to arrive. A few minutes later, here it is!
It is the famous "Cabbage Tendon" (1000 yen including tax). Three oversized pieces of cabbage tempura in the form of kakiage (deep fried cabbage) stand tall. Just being brought in front of you is an amazingly powerful sight.
The cabbage tempura rice bowl comes with sauce in advance, but it also comes with tempura sauce, so you can enjoy it in two different ways. The "tsuyu" way is to eat it while transferring the tempura to a small plate prepared on the side for easy eating.
The crispy texture is surprisingly not heavy, and the sweetness of the cabbage can be felt slightly. The first plate should be finished before you know it, as cabbage is a specialty of Minamihoro Town.
However, three extra-large pieces of tempura, each the size of the palm of an adult's hand, are quite a lot. Even if you can't finish them, you can ask the staff to give you a to-go package. Incidentally, there is also a shrimp tempura hidden inside, so please look for it while eating.
And after all, you can't miss the hot spring if you have come all this way: take a relaxing soak in the large bath in the main building, which was renovated and reopened in 2018. Nampolo Onsen is a natural hot spring with chloride spring water and is free-flowing. It warms your body from the core.
The indoor baths also include radon baths, which are rare in Hokkaido, and an oxygen bath where microbubbles improve blood circulation. If you enjoy the sauna as well, there is nothing more to say. Delicious specialties and comfortable hot spring baths.
