A Vast Yellow Carpet: A Guide to Hokkaido's Two Major Canola Flower Festivals in Abira and Takikawa

Abira Nanohana Sanpo 2024 (Abira Town)
Held in Abira Town, the "Nanohana Sanpo 2024" runs from May 18 to June 9. During this period, a 100-hectare field of canola flowers transforms into a stunning yellow carpet of breathtaking beauty. The event is packed with a variety of activities, including the "Canola Field Drive," where you can tour the fields in a tractor-pulled covered wagon, as well as the "Canola Flower Walkway" and "Canola Footpath," which allow you to stroll through parts of the fields normally closed to the public.
Additionally, a "Canola Information Center" will be set up at the main venue, Michi-no-Eki Abira D51 Station, where a "Nanohana Cafe" will also open, serving a menu inspired by the canola flowers.
A free shuttle bus will operate on weekends and holidays, connecting the Abira D51 Station with the surrounding canola fields. Enjoy the spring in Abira Town at "Nanohana Sanpo 2024," where beautiful scenery and special experiences await.

2024 Takikawa Canola Flower Festival ~Canola Flowers Blooming on the Hills~ (Takikawa City)
The "Takikawa Canola Flower Festival," held in Takikawa City, is a spectacular event featuring one of Japan's largest canola cultivation areas. From May 18 to May 26, mainly on weekends, you can enjoy the golden-yellow canola fields along with a gourmet fair featuring local ingredients and stage events.
At the special canola field venue, open only on weekends, you can overlook the yellow carpet that blankets the hills of Ebeotsu in Takikawa. Additionally, a gourmet festival at Michi-no-Eki Takikawa will bring together local eateries and a host of food trucks. Be sure to experience this stunning view, which has been selected as one of the "100 Moments of Hokkaido Impression."
