Sapporo City

Asahiyama Memorial Park overlooks the city of Sapporo and a pleasant breeze passes through. Did you know that there is a rest house in Asahiyama Memorial Park, a place of relaxation for the people of Sapporo? The rest house "Polku", which reopened on April 24, 2021, is located right next to the parking lot. Handmade bento boxes and other items are sold there.

Apparently, it is a "cafe and shop with a nature theme, such as forests, trees, and flowers," so the interior is spacious and has a rather cozy atmosphere.

There are five types of handmade bento boxes that you may be interested in. I had heard that they are all made on the spot, but they are actually made to order, not pre-prepared! This is because they want you to enjoy the deliciousness of freshly made bento.

The bento boxes are all in cute lunch boxes. Here we will introduce two carefully selected bento boxes out of the five available.

First up is the "Zangi Bento" (500 yen including tax). It's packed with large, well-seasoned zangi, and is very filling! If you eat it while looking at the beautiful view of Asahiyama Memorial Park, it's sure to be twice as delicious.

The next dish we would like to introduce is the "Roast Pork Bowl" (650 yen including tax). The generous pile of roast pork, mixed with the special sweet and spicy homemade sauce... is addictive! You will find yourself eating more and more rice. By the way, this rest house is run by the NPO "Te to Te" and uses organically grown vegetables from the fields of the employment support center "Te to Te".

If you get thirsty while walking around the park, why not purchase a drink? The moderate sweetness of the "Strawberry Milk" (400 yen including tax) will soothe your tired body.

They also pay special attention to their soft serve ice cream. "Nishiokoppe Village Soft Serve Dream" (waffle cone, 400 yen including tax) is made with milk from healthy cows raised at Hagiwara Farm in Nishiokoppe Village. This soft serve ice cream has a strong milk flavor, but can be eaten as if you were drinking it.

In addition to delicious gourmet food, the store also sells many other goods. Original Asahiyama Memorial Park goods made by hand and hand, and Shimaenaga goods made by artists, all of which are cute and unique! What's more, most of the items can only be purchased here.

There are many products that you will want to try, such as safe and delicious jams and tomato sauces made "hand by hand." They plan to start selling more vegetables in the future, so it may become possible to come to Asahiyama Memorial Park to buy fresh, naturally grown vegetables.

The rest house at Asahiyama Memorial Park is a space packed with charm, so be sure to stop by. It's usually open until 5pm, but for people who come to see the night view, it's open until 9pm on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays before public holidays. It's also open until 9pm on full moon days. Such a chic place makes it a wonderful rest house.
