Sapporo City

Asahiyama Memorial Park offers a stunning panoramic view of Sapporo city below, with a pleasant breeze rustling through. It's a beloved relaxation spot for Sapporo citizens, but did you know it has a rest house? Renovated and reopened on April 24, 2021, the rest house "Polku" is located right next to the parking lot. Here, you can buy freshly handmade bento boxes and more.

The theme of this cafe & shop is "nature, including forests, trees, and flowers," and the spacious interior creates a very comfortable and welcoming atmosphere.

There are five types of tempting handmade bento boxes. I heard they were made on-site, but I was surprised to learn they are not pre-made; they're prepared fresh after you order! This is because they want customers to savor the taste of a freshly made meal.

The bento boxes come in adorable lunch boxes. This time, we'll introduce two carefully selected options from the five available.

First up is the "Zangi Bento" (500 yen, tax included). It's packed with large, well-seasoned pieces of zangi (Hokkaido-style fried chicken), making it very satisfying! Eating it while enjoying the magnificent view from Asahiyama Memorial Park is sure to double the deliciousness.

Next, we also recommend the "Roast Pork Bowl" (650 yen, tax included). A generous amount of roast pork covers the rice, and when mixed with the sweet and savory special handmade sauce... it's simply addictive! You won't be able to stop eating. By the way, this rest house is operated by the NPO "Te to Te," and they use naturally grown vegetables from the fields of the "Te to Te" Employment Support Center.

If you get thirsty while strolling through the park, why not buy a drink? The moderate sweetness of the "Strawberry Milk" (400 yen, tax included) is a perfect treat for a tired body.

They are also particular about their soft-serve ice cream. The "Nishi-Okoppe Village's Soft Cream Dream" (waffle cone, 400 yen, tax included) is made with milk from healthy cows raised at Hagiwara Farm in Nishi-Okoppe Village. It's the type of soft-serve where you can truly taste the rich flavor of the milk, almost as if you were drinking it.

In addition to delicious food, the shop sells a variety of goods. From original Asahiyama Memorial Park merchandise made by "Te to Te" to goods featuring the long-tailed tit (shimaenaga) created by artists, everything is cute and unique! What's more, most of these items can only be purchased here.

There are also many tempting products like safe and delicious jams and tomato sauces made by "Te to Te." They plan to sell more and more vegetables in the future, so it might become common for people to visit Asahiyama Memorial Park just to buy fresh, naturally grown vegetables.

The rest house at Asahiyama Memorial Park is a space packed with charm, so be sure to stop by. While it's usually open until 5:00 PM, it stays open until 9:00 PM on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays before a public holiday for those who come to see the night view. It's also open until 9:00 PM on the night of a full moon. This thoughtful touch is another reason why it's such a wonderful rest house.
