NoMaps2023, a multifaceted festival to be held in Sapporo, Japan, with detailed explanations of each event and how to participate.

NoMaps2023, a multidisciplinary festival taking place at more than 20 venues in Sapporo, will be held from September 13 (Wed) to 17 (Sun), 2023. NoMaps will be held simultaneously with various events related to tech, entertainment, and creativity, and we will provide you with easy-to-understand information on the highlights and how to participate!

What is NoMaps2023?

NoMaps is a complex festival held annually in Sapporo since 2016. Talks, live performances, and exhibitions are held at various locations in Sapporo. Since the festival brings together new ideas and creativity for the future, the main features of the festival are talks with famous guests, as well as presentations and exhibitions that incorporate the latest technologies and ideas.

NoMaps2023 will be held for five days from Wednesday, September 13 to Sunday, September 17. Since it will be held at the same time as the Sapporo Autumn Fest, a food-related event in Odori Park, visitors can enjoy a pleasant autumn tour around the city of Sapporo.

The content that will take place at NoMaps2023 can be divided into six main categories.

Each venue has many areas that can be entered for free, and some areas require a fee. To fully enjoy the event, including the paid areas, we recommend purchasing a NoMaps Passport.

In the "Conference" sessions, you will be able to find hints for the future of society and "meet the guests" at talk conferences on the latest topics such as generative AI, solving social issues, overseas business, the future of education, and more. The main venue for the conference is MAIN HALL, which will be held on Thursday, September 14 and Friday, September 15 at Asty Hall on the 4th floor of Asty 45, directly connected underground to Sapporo Station. Based on the conference's overall theme of "Human Strike Back," five sessions will be held over the two days. This venue is an area that requires a NoMaps passport.

Free Fashion for Everyone: Super Welfare Fashion Expo

NoMaps2023

The "Super Welfare Fashion Expo" was held in Shibuya, Tokyo, and attracted a total of 300,000 visitors in an attempt to break down the "mental barrier" against minorities, including people with disabilities, and welfare itself. The "Super Welfare Fashion Expo" is a spin-off of this event.

Artists, designers, and students worked together to create out-of-the-box prosthetic leg covers, and fashion brands were exhibited based on the requests and perspectives of people with physical disabilities, the elderly, and those in need of nursing care. As a new way to utilize the underground passageways in central Sapporo, which boasts one of the world's heaviest snowfalls, an exhibition of 3D art (AR art) utilizing AR technology will be held. New movie experience with sound from mobile radio: Movie/Music

As Movie, "Ashita no shiataa" will be held at Sapporo Geijutsu no Mori (Sapporo Art Park). In addition to a new movie experience listening to a mobile radio, various other events will be held, such as costume, ghost stories, and art experiences. The Forest of Art will be shrouded in fear: Ashita no Geimori (Tomorrow's Geimori)

Ashita no Geimori is an outdoor event organized by Ashita no Shiataa, which has been showing movies in a drive-in theater format at the Corona Disaster. Participants are given a portable radio and can enjoy the films with earphones in a quiet forest interspersed with visuals and light effects, as they wish.

This year's theme is "ghosts," and there will be a wide variety of contents for both children and adults to enjoy. Films to be screened are "Ghostbusters Afterlife" and the short horror program "Succession of the Goddess" recommended by the Sapporo International Short Film Festival. An art tour to enjoy the popular picture book "Obake no Maru" and the open-air museum will also be held at noon. Please note that the event will be held on Saturday, September 30, which is not during NoMaps2023.

The Sapporo Lantern Festival 2023 is an event in which participants' wishes and thoughts are put on lanterns and launched simultaneously into the night sky of Sapporo. Kitchen cars will be set up at the venue, and drone soccer will also be played.

This year's event, which was held last year in 2022 and was well received, will be held on Saturday, September 16. Unfortunately, advance purchase of lanterns is required to launch the lanterns, which are already sold out. The launch will take place at 6:45 p.m. and viewing is free.
