Fascination with World & Japan Firsts! And buzz! What is the unique attraction of the Aquarium of the Northern Lands?
A novel explanatory board
The fact that the Aquarium of the Northern Lands is well known throughout Japan has a lot to do with the many times it has been buzzed about on social networking sites. Here is an explanatory board in the style of a LINE talk screen that became a hot topic in 2016. A conversation between a rainbow trout and a landlocked salmon led to a shocking revelation..!
The post received a whopping 28,000 likes on X (formerly Twitter).
Question and answer on a slant.
Here is the form that Hajime Yamauchi, the director of the museum, answered a question from a visitor.

It's been a series and has been buzzed about at least 7 times by my count.
Shocking "button with the curator coming out."
As the name suggests, when pressed, the button causes the museum director, Mr. Yamauchi, to appear on the spot.
Wehave installed a button in the museum that brings out the director. Please feel free to call him up even if you have nothing to talk about, such as fish, exhibits, the aquarium, or hamburgers! Let's talk ٩٩٩(ᐛ )و pic.twitter.com/mTy4V2t7aJ-

The first post received over 20,000 likes, but a subsequent version update added a meter that shows the possibility of coming out, and when we introduced it again, the response was even greater this time, and to our surprise, it was featured on NHK's live broadcast, prime-time variety shows, and more!

According to Mr. Yamauchi, the button was born out of a desire to increase opportunities for interaction with visitors, even if only a little, as it has been difficult to communicate effectively with them due to the unavoidable shutdown of operations at the Corona disaster.
I feel that the series of events that became the topic of discussion have at their core a love for the fish, the aquarium, the community, and the visitors! No wonder there are so many repeat visitors.
Surrounded by a fox farm and hot springs
Near the aquarium is the Kita Kitsune Farm, the only place in Japan where visitors can see foxes and raccoons living free-range, one of the world's largest pigeon clock towers, and the Onneyu Onsen hot springs, which have been described as "one of the best hot springs in Japan" for the quality of their water.
When visiting the Aquarium of the Northern Lands, please enjoy the whole experience together with the surrounding facilities!
