Hokkaido's Winter Wonders: The Ethereal Pale Blue Pond in Biei Before It Freezes, and More! [Hokkaido Mirai Note (99)]
The Pale-Colored Blue Pond in Biei Before Freezing
The ethereal Blue Pond, a sight that can only be seen before it freezes over.
This scene was truly a once-in-a-lifetime encounter.

The Shirogane Blue Pond is one of Biei's most popular tourist spots.
You can enjoy its natural beauty year-round, from the contrast of the blue water and lush green trees in summer, to the autumn foliage, and the snowy landscape when the frozen pond is covered in snow in winter.🌲
There's also a light-up event from November to April, making you want to visit again and again!
A Smiling Shima Enaga (Sapporo City)
I encountered this Shima Enaga (long-tailed tit) just as the first snow fell and winter truly began.
In the dead of winter, they become pure white and fluffy, earning them the nickname "snow fairy." You might be able to find them in nearby parks from December to late February.

True to its name as the "snow fairy," the round, pure white Shima Enaga is incredibly adorable♡
But did you know they only look this way in winter? In summer, they have a more slender, streamlined appearance...
Be sure to look closely around the trees when you're out and about so you don't miss these tiny birds👀!
A Town of Rime Ice (Furano City)
On a cold Furano morning. The whole town was covered in white with rime ice, as if by magic.

Furano City is popular for its lavender and picturesque rural landscapes that change with the seasons.
The silvery-white world of winter, where everything is blanketed in white, is also beautiful 📸!
While we look forward to the upcoming flower season, this photo makes us feel a bit nostalgic for the end of winter.
