A boarding ticket was prepared for Mizore, a seal that moved out from Kaiyukan.
Now that Mizore-kun has arrived safely at Otaru Aquarium
What kind of life does Mizore, who arrived safely at Otaru Aquarium in November 2023, lead now? We interviewed Mr. Yusuke Sasaki of the Marine Animal Breeding Section, who is in charge of keeping ringed seals at the Otaru Aquarium.
From my point of view, Mizore was raised under artificial nursing, and I feel that he is very close to humans and friendly. Also, depending on the day, we put toys in the pool. Most animals are wary of toys they have never seen before and take some time before playing with them, but in the case of Mizore, if he likes it, he will play with it immediately.
As for how they spend their time during the day, we are currently feeding them twice a day. He usually swims in the pool, and when he sees something that interests him, such as something a customer is wearing, he will sometimes come close to it. Some customers say, 'I came to see Mizore,' and many of them are watching in front of Mizore's pool.
Perhaps it is her close proximity to people and her friendly personality, such as her curiosity and her willingness to approach anything that catches her attention, that keeps Mizore's fans captivated to this day. And it seems that the same abundance of love and affection is still being lavished on him.
It is no exaggeration to say that this boarding ticket is the result of a lot of love for Mizore. The Mizore currently live in an area called "Kaijyu Park" at the Otaru Aquarium. The sea itself is delimited, and the animals live freely in their natural habitat.
Since they are now adult animals, they do not have white fluffy fur, but their cuteness remains the same. Please visit the Otaru Aquarium.
