The general supermarket Ito-Yokado, long-loved by local communities, has announced the closure of all 17 of its stores in Hokkaido, Tohoku, and Shinetsu. The Obihiro store will close on June 30, 2024, followed by the Tonden store on July 28, and the Kitami store on August 18. As people across the country bid a sad farewell, the "Ito-Yokado & Poppo Keychains" have become a hot topic. These keychains feature the familiar pigeon logo and the logo of Poppo, the food court, and it's been reported that the sales company is being flooded with inquiries about purchasing them.

To find out where to get these keychains, I visited the Tonden store in Sapporo, which is scheduled to close soon.

Found at the Tonden Store! The "Ito-Yokado Keychain"

Ito-Yokado & Poppo Keychain Gacha Machine

After a thorough search of the first floor of the Tonden store, I found them in two locations: in front of the Poppo food court and in the corner where the gacha machines are gathered! Both are sold in gacha capsule toy machines, with a message saying "Thank you for 24 years." There are two types: the Ito-Yokado keychain and the Poppo keychain. Both are priced at 500 yen.

The Ito-Yokado keychains I found at the Tonden store come in a total of six varieties. They include the classic Ito-Yokado pigeon mark, a notebook and shopping bag featuring that mark, Hatson-kun from the official Ito-Yokado mascot "Hatson Tanteidan" (Hatson Detective Squad), the Yokado logo from 1958, and the exterior of the soon-to-be-closed Tonden store—a rich variety of designs. A must-have for any Ito-Yokado fan.

A Rare Find Sold at Only a Few Stores: The "Poppo Keychain"

The other item of interest is the Poppo keychain. This series has a total of seven varieties: the Poppo logo text, soy sauce ramen, Imagawayaki with red bean paste, takoyaki with sauce (8 pieces), okonomiyaki, large fries, and floats (3 types). The gacha machine for these Poppo keychains is said to be a rare find, available at only a few Ito-Yokado stores nationwide. Now is your only chance to get one.

All Ito-Yokado stores in Hokkaido will close by the summer of 2025. However, since Poppo only exists in the Obihiro and Tonden stores, it will disappear from Hokkaido on July 28, 2024.
