Sapporo Lunch Buffet Review: A Meal Worth Repeating! Create Your Own Edible Art at "hache" in Cross Hotel Sapporo
The quality of hotel and restaurant lunch buffets has been improving year after year. From the many lunch buffets I've personally tried in Sapporo, I've picked one that I definitely want to visit again. This time, I'll introduce Cross Hotel Sapporo, which was renovated in April 2024 and has become even more popular.
The Super Popular Buffet Menu Was Renewed in April 2024
The weekend and holiday-exclusive lunch buffet at Cross Hotel Sapporo was renewed in April 2024. With the concept of "CHEF'S SHOW STAGE, where creativity and curiosity spark," it has become an even more entertaining buffet experience. It's so popular that it's notoriously difficult to get a reservation. The dishes, centered on Hokkaido ingredients and utilizing French culinary techniques, are each refined and sophisticated. The lineup is unapologetically Western, ensuring that no matter which dishes you combine on your plate, they balance well and the flavors don't clash.
When at a buffet, it's tempting to want to conquer the entire menu, but sometimes you have to reluctantly give up on some items after consulting with your stomach. Here, each dish is small, which is great for those who want to taste a little of everything! Of course, you're free to get seconds of your favorite dishes, so please enjoy as much as you like.
A spread of bite-sized savory cakes (cake salé) and pinchos.
Each item has the quality of a French amuse-bouche.
Create a Beautifully Arranged "MY Parfait" with Your Own Flair
As a new style of buffet, the "MY Parfait" offers an unprecedented way to enjoy your meal. You are provided with an empty glass and a variety of ingredients. You can freely combine colorful materials like seafood marinade with shrimp and salmon roe, charcuterie such as bacon and prosciutto, spinach and beet purées, cheese, carrot râpées, and olives to create your very own glass parfait.
Freely combine finely chopped ingredients with purées and more.
Layering the vibrant purées creates a gorgeous look.
Tangy ingredients like râpées and choucroute add a nice accent to the flavor.
If you're unsure about combinations, you can follow the chef's recommendations for inspiration.
You can also create an artistic plate with sauces, purées, and cold appetizers.
Pasta and Roast Beef Served Tableside from a Wagon
In addition to the self-service buffet, another highlight is the tableside wagon service. First, an amuse-bouche is served, followed by pasta and the main roast beef, brought to you at just the right time. The roast beef, cooked slowly from a large cut of meat, is carved right in front of you. It's freshly cut, moist, and juicy! And of course, you can ask for seconds. You can also request your preferred thickness.
The gravy sauce is also rich and has an authentic taste.
The pasta has a firm texture, and you can request the portion size.
Making an open-faced sandwich with thinly sliced roast beef is also recommended.
Bite-Sized Desserts and a Welcome Cake
The buffet operates on a reservation-only basis with designated time slots. Prepared for each time slot is a welcome cake. The huge, magnificent cake is a sight to behold! After it's presented, it's cut into smaller pieces, so wait patiently. Baked goods and cakes like canelés, gâteau au chocolat, and tarts are bite-sized. Even if you're full, you can still enjoy these delicious treats.
The popular welcome cake is not replenished, so get it early.
The sweets are also delightfully bite-sized. The small canelés are crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside.
For an additional 1,200 yen, you can enjoy all-you-can-drink red, white, and sparkling wine.
