The Sapporo Snow Festival Museum, located at the popular Sapporo tourist spot Hitsujigaoka Observation Hill, is now home to a life-size statue of Snow Miku, the character who supports Hokkaido and serves as a Sapporo Tourism Ambassador. The statue will be open to the public starting Saturday, December 21, 2024. The Domingo editorial team got a sneak peek!

A Life-Size Snow Miku Statue Appears in the Museum Steeped in Sapporo Snow Festival History

Hitsujigaoka Observation Hill is a classic spot to enjoy panoramic views of Sapporo, along with the famous statue of Dr. Clark. The Sapporo Snow Festival Museum, located on its grounds, introduces the history of the Sapporo Snow Festival and the process of creating its snow sculptures. Now, a new life-size statue of Snow Miku has been added to the museum's collection.

This statue was previously displayed at the "Snow Miku Sky Town" shop and museum in New Chitose Airport. Following the facility's renewal, it was relocated (donated) to Hitsujigaoka Observation Hill. The character of Snow Miku was born from a snow sculpture created for the 2010 Sapporo Snow Festival, so this relocation was made possible by the deep connection between Snow Miku and the festival.

Exhibits also explain how the giant snow sculptures are made.

While the life-size statue is a highlight in itself, another key attraction is the voice recording of Snow Miku introducing the museum, which plays in the display area! Furthermore, in the "Memorial Area" at the back of the museum, there is a special Snow Miku exhibition corner where you can see displays and videos of the Snow Miku snow sculptures that have been created every year since 2010.

The souvenir shop at Hitsujigaoka Observation Hill also has a Snow Miku section.

While taking a commemorative photo with the Dr. Clark statue and eating Jingisukan (Genghis Khan mutton barbecue) are the classic activities at Hitsujigaoka Observation Hill, we now recommend meeting Snow Miku at the Sapporo Snow Festival Museum! Why not add this new, uniquely Sapporo and Hokkaido experience to your travel memories?
