Enjoy authentic afternoon tea at Miyanomori's "Reservation-only hideaway salon" in Sapporo's "afternoonTEA afternoonALCOHOL"
This is a hidden salon where you can enjoy authentic afternoon tea served on a three-tiered tray in an adult space that requires a reservation and is only open to those aged 18 and over.
Miyanomori's hideaway salon is by appointment only

"afternoonTEA afternoon ALCOHOL" exterior
The shop is located in Miyanomori, Chuo-ku, Sapporo, on the first floor of a building with an impressive glass front. Please note that there is no large signboard or display of the store name.

Look for the round sign on the sidewalk
Facing the road, there is a round sign with the logo "afternoonTEA afternoonALCOHOL". Since it is a reservation-only system via the web, the door is usually closed and you have to press the intercom to enter the store.

The interior is filled with natural light from the windows.
The spacious interior features tables set beneath a beautiful chandelier. The slightly long name of the restaurant, Afternoon Tea Afternoon Alcohol, is abbreviated to "TA."

Afternoon tea starting with sparkling wine
The table is lined with lovely brand tableware and antique cutlery collected by the owner, Yukari Mitani, and afternoon tea is set on a three-tiered tray. This time we visited as a group of two, but it is also OK for one person or three or more people.
Afternoon tea course with contents that change every month
There are two types of TA courses: the "Tea Course" for 6,600 yen (tax included) and the "Alcohol Course" for 8,800 yen (tax included), both of which are free-flow courses for 2 hours and 30 minutes.

A beautiful setting that you'll want to take a photo of
The menu changes slightly each month, with a total of 15 dishes. This time, I had the February menu, a tea course without alcohol.
<February Menu> ・Consommé soup ・Salad with special carrot dressing ・This month's meat dish: Fresh chicken ham from Hokkaido ・Hokkaido raisins and mixed nuts ■Cake stand lower tier ・Classic refreshing cucumber sandwich ・Hokkaido cream cheese and smoked salmon sandwich ・Seasonal vegetable pickles ■Cake stand middle tier ・Scones ・T/A special strawberry jam ・Homemade clotted cream ■Cake stand top tier ・Seasonal fruit: Melo Gold ・T/A special chocolate ・Chocolate panna cotta with cranberry sauce ・T/A Cheesecake ・Chocolate terrine ・White chocolate covered dried fruit cake ・Seasonal fruit compote with Greek yogurt ・Skin and bones, pistachio ice cream
The set comes on a three-tiered tray and includes soup, salad, meat dishes, etc. It's recommended that you go there hungry, with the intention of having a full-course lunch.

Tea poured at the perfect time
The tea is made by Mariage Frères, a long-established French company, and comes in six varieties, all served at just the right time.

Earl Grey pot
The photo shows Earl Grey served in a pot. We enjoyed chatting and sipping the warm tea for a long time.

Two types of sandwiches served with pickles
There are two types of sandwiches, one of which changes every month. The current menu item was the "Hokkaido cream cheese and smoked salmon sandwich," which is delicious for adults. The standard menu item, the "Cucumber sandwich," had a fun cucumber texture and a refreshing taste.

Scones are an essential part of afternoon tea
Next, we have scones that are crisp on the outside and have an exquisitely moist and fluffy texture inside. They can be reheated when you want to eat them. The delicious aroma of wheat and butter from the rebaked scones makes you feel very happy.

Clotted cream and jam of your choice
When you're ready to eat it, split it in half and top it with a generous amount of rich clotted cream and strawberry jam. You can really taste the fragrant flavor of Hokkaido wheat.

Homemade additive-free clotted cream
Both the clotted cream and strawberry jam are homemade and go perfectly with the scones and tea, making it so delicious you'll want to keep eating it over and over again.

Milk tea topped with plenty of foamed milk
The milk tea topped with fluffy foam milk that went with the scones was also delicious. By the way, there are two large scones per person, so if you can't finish one, you can take one home. (By the way, they were so delicious that I finished both of them!)

Sweets that will make you long for spring, like blooming mimosa flowers
The top shelf is filled with chocolate-based sweets, fitting for February. It includes classic menu items such as cheesecake, as well as an assortment of fruits and sweets that change with the season.

It's also fun to pair it with an Americano or espresso.
The tea was delicious, but I decided to change things up and had an Americano from Saito Coffee. It's free flow, so you can request your next drink whenever you like.

"Skin and Bones" Pistachio Ice Cream
The final dish is pistachio ice cream. This dish was apparently inherited from Chef Sasagawa of the bistro "Hone to Hi" that used to operate here. It was a rich and delicate flavor with a beautiful lingering aftertaste.
Enjoy the tableware as well as the afternoon tea with all five senses
A three-tiered afternoon tea tray is a feast for the eyes. The tableware used this time was Royal Albert's "Old Country Rose." The classic and lovely rose pattern is beautiful, and the traditional British atmosphere will lift your spirits.

Tableware from the Portuguese brand COSTA NOVA
TA has a large collection of tableware, so you can choose your favorite tableware from the second visit onwards. As shown in the picture, there are Costa Nova, Bernardo, Iittala, and other tableware from a variety of tastes and countries, so you can enjoy afternoon tea in a different atmosphere every time.

Consommé soup from Royal Copenhagen
For example, the cup that the soup came in was a vintage Royal Copenhagen. It felt good in the hand, and I enjoyed trying out different kinds of tableware. If you like tableware, you'll have a great time chatting with the owner, Mr. Mitani.
"afternoonTEA afternoonALCOHOL" is a hidden gem in Miyanomori where you can spend a slightly luxurious and special time. It is a wonderful afternoon tea specialty store that you will want to visit again and again in different seasons.
