The post sparked a huge response on social media, with comments like, "Isn't that the snack-that-must-not-be-named?!", "In Hokkaido, there's only one name for it, right?", and "What kind of -yaki is it anyway..."

Product Name to be Decided by Vote

This "Object X" was sold by the Hokkaido University Co-op Student Committee, which organizes various activities for students. The official product name was to be decided by a vote that could be entered in-store or via a QR code, and the sticker poll in the store attracted many votes. (Sales and voting ended on May 23rd.)

According to the interim results, "Oyaki" received strong support from those from Hokkaido, while "Imagawayaki" and "Obanyaki" were the frontrunners for other regions. Many other names were also seen.

The results are in from the Hokkaido University Co-op Student Committee's official X account! The much-anticipated name has been decided as "Imagawayaki," which received the most votes. Looking at the distribution map, the sheer number of names and the wide range of hometowns of Hokkaido University students is truly surprising!
