BISTROT déjà is a casual French restaurant that has been loved for 20 years in the Sosei East area, where trendy restaurants are on the rise. "Bistro" means a French public restaurant, and this is a place where you can enjoy casual, everyday cuisine. Why not try a nice lunch that's different from the usual, with authentic bistro cuisine that can be enjoyed for under 2,000 yen?

The shop is located in a corner of the "Iwasa Building," which is home to a number of cafes and small theaters.

Iwasa Building, located across the road to the north of Sapporo Factory, a popular spot in the center of Sapporo city, is famous for its cafes and small theaters, which attract discerning patrons. Bistro Deja is located in one corner of the building. The interior of the restaurant has a pop atmosphere reminiscent of a street corner in Paris, with eye-catching red checked tablecloths. At lunchtime, you can choose from four courses, and you can also choose from multiple menus for appetizers and main dishes.

Choose a course based on your mood that day. There is also a pasta set available once a week.

The lunch for this day was a choice of four appetizers: "Pork and white liver pate," "Fish and potato quiche," and "Assorted pate and quiche," and a soup called "Paprika and tomato potage." For the main course, there were two to choose from: "Pan-fried cod with capers sauce" and "Roasted chicken thigh with vinegar sauce." Both dishes were quite filling, and apparently have many male fans.

Dessert is a 3-item platter of chocolate chiffon cake, banana clafoutis, and coffee-flavored ice cream.

All the food, including the desserts, is homemade. The owner, Yoji Moriya, explains his passion: "Even though it's French food, I want people to feel free to enjoy it, so I've kept the prices as low as possible. With prices rising these days, I'm working really hard (laughs)."

Bistro Deja

Moriya-san has been cooking French cuisine for 40 years. He is a veteran who has worked at many famous restaurants, mainly in Tokyo.

The menu doesn't change much from day to day, but it uses seasonal fish and vegetables, allowing you to enjoy the flavors of the season, which is a nice touch.

The store's name "déjà" means "already?" in Japanese.

In the evening, they offer a rich a la carte menu, including mousse, galantine, beef cheek stewed in red wine, and lamb shoulder stewed in tomato sauce. They also offer course meals that can be ordered on the day starting from 4,000 yen. Both of these restaurants may be fully booked, so it is recommended that you make a reservation in advance.
