"The prices are crazy" - Crab for just 100 yen!? Kushiro's local supermarket shocks people: "I want to go to Eastern Hokkaido"
Come to Hokkaido (especially the east) 🦀

Quoted from @nagi0467's post
A supermarket poster advertised chestnut crabs being sold for just 100 yen each! Chestnut crabs are a type of crab caught in Hokkaido, and look just like hairy crabs. Although they may be small, they are packed with meat and are delicious, but for a long time they have not been widely available in the market, and have mainly been eaten as staff meals by fishermen. The surprisingly low price of this crab has led to comments on social media such as "The price is crazy," "That's amazing in this day and age," and "I want to go to eastern Hokkaido."
The charm of Eastern Hokkaido from the perspective of an immigrant
The post was made by Yagira Kohei, a high school teacher who moved to Kushiro City after being transferred there. He photographs the vibrant wildlife and natural scenery of the area and posts them on social media. The photos convey the charm of Kushiro that can only be captured from the perspective of Yagira, a newcomer to the city.

Besides chestnut crab, Yagira says, "I was impressed by the variety of seafood in Eastern Hokkaido, such as the deliciousness of Nemuro's saury sashimi, the umami of Betsukai's Hokkaishima shrimp, the size of the jumbo scallops, and the culture of enjoying salmon in Shibetsu's salmon ruibe and rice sushi." It seems there is still plenty of charm to be discovered in the towns of Eastern Hokkaido.
