Newly opened in Tanukikoji! Fresh lamb Jingisukan specialty restaurant "Sapporo Genghis Khan Nakaram"

There's now one more spot worth stopping by on your Sapporo sightseeing itinerary. In July 2024, a new Jingisukan specialty restaurant, Sapporo Genghis Khan Nakaram, will open in Tanukikoji Yokocho, Tanukikoji 5-chome. The authentic Jingisukan, served by the owner, who is fascinated by the appeal of raw lamb, has become so popular that it has already seen repeat customers since opening.

A new spot for enjoying fresh lamb in the heart of Sapporo

Located in Tanukikoji Yokocho, a tourist spot that also houses the movie theater Satsugeki

The appeal of Nakaramu is undoubtedly its Jingisukan, made with fresh lamb. The meat is fresh New Zealand lamb, specially procured from a specialty restaurant in Takikawa City. The lamb is juicy with little odor, and the thickness is precisely cut to the millimeter, bringing out the maximum flavor of the meat and the ability to mix with the sauce.

First, the classic "Genghis Khan" (1,260 yen)

The signature dish, "Genghis Khan," has a perfect balance of lean meat and fat, making it a classic dish that gradually releases its delicious flavor the more you chew it. Furthermore, the "Special Shoulder Loin" is moist and tender, with just the right amount of sweet fat and rich flavor, making it a popular choice for repeat customers. If you can't decide which to order, we recommend the "W Genghis Khan Plate" (2,950 yen), which lets you enjoy both dishes at once.

The meat is fresh raw lamb from New Zealand, sourced from the famous restaurant "Hasegawa Seikishikan" in Takikawa City. Because it is cut to the same thickness within the millimeter, it mixes well with the special sauce, and you won't get bored of it until the last bite.

The restaurant serves the familiar iron pot and charcoal fire.

It's also great that you can eat it without worrying about the smoke!

The restaurant is small with only 10 seats, but it has a homey atmosphere that makes it easy to come in even if you're alone. You can not only cook your own Jingisukan in an iron pot, but also eat it freshly cooked on a plate in the shared space of Tanukikoji Yokocho. You can enjoy it without having to worry about smoke, so it's perfect for stopping by while sightseeing or shopping.

During lunchtime until 3pm, they also offer the "Genghis Khan Plate Set Meal" which comes with rice and miso soup, and is popular not only with tourists but also with locals for lunch.

Deliciousness created with original sauce and ingredients from Hokkaido

The specially made sauce that matches the flavor of Nakaram's Genghis Khan is exquisite!

The umami flavor of the lamb is enhanced by an original sauce made by a specialist in Otaru. The subtle sweetness and sourness are exquisite, and you won't get bored of it until the last bite. Another appealing feature is that you can customize it to your liking by adding condiments such as chili peppers, grated garlic, and white sesame seeds.

Furthermore, the rice is "Nanatsuboshi" directly delivered from Tsukigata Town, and the accompanying onions are from Shintotsukawa Town, making for a lineup that focuses on the bounty of Hokkaido. This bowl of Jingisukan in Sapporo, the home of Jingisukan, is full of the flavors of the land.

The owner, Chikako Nakamura, enjoys eating out and has tried many different types of Genghis Khan in the city.

When talking about this restaurant, it is essential to mention the owner, Nakamura Chikako. Nakamura grew up in Akabira, where seasoned meat is the norm when it comes to Genghis Khan, and when she first tasted raw lamb in Sapporo, she was shocked by its tenderness and rich flavor. "I want to share this excitement in my own restaurant," she continued to think, and with the support of her husband, who runs a home improvement business, she finally opened her long-awaited restaurant. Sapporo Genghis Khan Nakaram is filled with Nakamura's long-held passion and dedication.

It is likely to attract more and more attention as a "new Jingisukan spot" that can be easily enjoyed in the center of Sapporo.
