Let's have fun in the neighborhood this spring! 20 recommended events by area in Hokkaido
Cherry blossoms have begun to bloom one after another throughout Hokkaido, and spring has arrived.
We will introduce recommended events in each of the four areas of North Hokkaido, East Hokkaido, South Hokkaido, and Central Hokkaido.
Since it is difficult to travel far from home, please take precautions against infection and enjoy discovering events held near your town.

Discover! Oozu-machi's best photo contest 2021
4 2021 Kamiyubetsu Tulip Fair (Yubetsu Town)
Date: May 1, 2021 (Sat) - early June (scheduled) 8:00-18:00
Summary: About 700,000 tulips of 200 varieties will be in full bloom in a variety of colors. Visitors can also "dig and sell" their favorite tulips by the bulb from the flower garden. The best time to see the flowers is usually from mid to late May.

3 Hokuto Cherry Blossom Corridor (Hokuto City)

Summary: How about taking a drive along Highway 96, which connects the weeping cherry trees at Hokameji Temple, the cherry blossom tunnel at the site of the Togirichi camp of the Matsumae Domain, a national historic site, the cherry blossom trees along the Ono River, and the Kiyokawa Senbonzakura? Hokameji Temple, the remains of the Togirichi camp of the Matsumae domain, and the area along the Ono River will be illuminated (18:30 - 21:00).

4 The 73rd Matsumae Cherry Blossom Festival (Matsumae Town)
Date: April 24 (Sat) - May 9 (Sun), 2021
Description: Matsumae Park, selected as one of the 100 best cherry blossom viewing spots, is home to approximately 10,000 cherry trees of 250 varieties, which bloom early, mid, and late during the month from late April to late May. The view of the cherry blossoms while looking out over the Tsugaru Straits is breathtaking.

4 Nishimura Keio Memorial Museum of Art "Kacho Fugetsu" (Kyowa Town)
Date: February 19, 2021 (Fri) - July 11, 2021 (Sun) 9:00-17:00
Summary: The exhibition "Kacho Fugetsu" (Flower, Bird, Wind, and Moon) is currently being held in the permanent exhibition room to introduce the 70 years of painter Nishimura's career, focusing on his landscapes of Asian countries. The exhibition room is divided into five sections, each displaying works from before his arrival in France, the early, middle, and late periods in Paris, and from the 1980s onward. Visitors can feel the transition of his painting style through his brush strokes and colors.

5 Bread of the Holy Tree - The World Spread from Otaru's Bread (Otaru City)
Date: April 3, 2021 (Sat) - May 5, 2021 (Wed) 9:30 - 17:00
Overview: The world of "Bread of the Holy Tree" will be introduced with 25 original drawings donated by Mr. Yamahana to the Otaru Museum of Literature, as well as valuable name drafts and drafts of original plans donated to the Otaru Library. In addition, Otaru has in fact long been known for its many bakeries. The exhibition introduces the history of bakeries and bakeries in Otaru, including Kobayashi Sanseido, a bakery founded by Takiji Kobayashi's uncle, who also helped Takiji Kobayashi when he was a boy. The exhibition also includes information on the many unique bakeries currently operating in Otaru!
