Maruyama Zoo, open from New Year's Day, is holding its annual "Zodiac Exhibition," this year themed on the 2026 zodiac animal, the Horse. The event features informational panels about the ecology of horses, a capsule toy machine with limited-edition keychains, and a fun activity booth for parents and children with games like sugoroku (a Japanese board game) and a chance to see horse hoofprints. On specific days, there will be photo opportunities with a horse and talks by zookeepers. On New Year's Day, visitors will be greeted and can receive ema (wooden wishing plaques).
