1 Go out with the family! The popular annual New Year's event "Tomica Plarail Festival in Sapporo"

This popular event is held every year at the beginning of the year in Sapporo! The venue features impressive exhibition zones, including a giant Tomica and Plarail diorama and a replica of a Shinkansen train depot. The attraction zone also offers a variety of fun and hands-on activities, such as Tomica fishing, the Tomica assembly factory, and Plarail omikuji. Event commemorative products and other Tomica and Plarail goods will also be on sale.

3 Open from New Year's Day! Maruyama Zoo's special exhibition "Zodiac Exhibition" based on the zodiac

Maruyama Zoo, which has been open since New Year's Day, will be hosting its annual "Zodiac Exhibition," themed around the zodiac sign for 2026, the horse. There will be a panel exhibit where you can learn about the ecology of horses, a gacha machine where you can win limited edition keychains, and play booths where parents and children can enjoy things like sugoroku (a board game) and paw print making. On certain days, you can take photos with the horses and be guided by the zookeepers, and in the New Year, votive plaques will be distributed and visitors will be greeted. This is a limited-time event for the New Year period, packed with learning and experiences.
