Sapporo Grand Hotel opened in 1934 as Hokkaido's first authentic Western-style hotel. Known as the guesthouse of the north, the Western cuisine techniques honed over its long history are passed down to every dish served at the hotel's restaurants. This time, we'll be introducing the cuisine and atmosphere of Northern Terrace Diner, famous for its lunch buffet, as well as limited-time collaboration sweets.

Located in the center of Sapporo, the Sapporo Grand Hotel opened as Hokkaido's first authentic Western-style hotel. Equipped with a restaurant and bakery, it is readily available to both hotel guests and local residents. Particularly popular is the lunch buffet at Northern Terrace Diner, a restaurant on the first floor of the hotel.

The popular buffet offers approximately 40 different menu items to choose from!

Currently (January to February 28, 2026) a French fair is being held.

Northern Terrace Diner has a spacious and relaxing atmosphere and is surrounded by an L-shaped open kitchen, with a menu of around 40 different dishes. The menu changes every two months, offering a seasonal lineup that is sure to please. On Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, they also offer an all-you-can-eat roast beef option. Guests can also order a la carte dishes such as Kuroge Wagyu beef steak and beef stew, which are some of the hotel's signature dishes.

Limited-time collaboration sweets with Snow Miku, "Snow Miku Snow Globe" 1,800 yen, 700 yen for takeout

The restaurant offers a wide variety of sweets, but one to look out for this winter is the "Snow Miku Snow Globe," a collaboration between Snow Miku, the Hokkaido-supporting character, and the Grand Hotel's "skill." This dish combines white chocolate and French cream cheese mousse with Galette Bretonne, a traditional thick cookie from Brittany, France.

The crispy texture of the Galette Bretonne and the smooth feel of the mousse are exquisite, and the gentle sweetness fills your mouth.

"We thoroughly considered not only the taste but also the balance of texture and appearance," says Chef Takada, who came up with the recipe.

The collaboration sweets come with a coaster (7 types, randomly chosen *For purchases of 1,000 yen or more) and a pick with an illustration of Snow Miku (2024 costume design). Takeout is also available. Be sure to enjoy this delicious collaboration created by a long-established hotel.
