A unique Hokkaido lodging experience at Ashita no Shiro, surrounded by nature!
If you have come all the way to Hokkaido for a trip, why not make sure that your accommodation is also Hokkaido-like?
For example, why not stay at the only guest house in a place surrounded by nature?
Ashita no Shiro (Tomorrow's Castle)" in the Soya region of northern Hokkaido is just such an accommodation facility. The unique name of the inn, as well as its lovely exterior, is quite enticing. Let's pay a visit, filled with anticipation.
Ashita no Shiro is located on top of a small hill in the Sarobetsu wilderness. The location of Ashita no Shiro (Tomorrow's Castle) is located on top of a small hill in the Sarobetsu wilderness, and the natural surroundings are evident in the photos taken from the sky.
There is literally nothing to see, just a guest house built in the middle of vast nature. And this "simply vast natural setting" is the greatest charm of Ashita no Shiro. Breathing in plenty of fresh air, idly watching the sun rise over the Sarobetsu wilderness, listening to the chirping of wild birds, or looking up at the night sky full of stars ....... It teaches us once again that to fully enjoy Hokkaido is, in other words, to fully enjoy nature.
Of course, the surrounding environment changes drastically depending on the season you stay. Visitors seem to enjoy each season, from traveling around Hokkaido by motorcycle in the summer to snowshoeing in the winter. The owner, a native of Nagasaki, started the inn in 1977, and many of the guests have been regulars for a long time. Incidentally, the owner is not a fan of the manga "Ashita no Joe" (Tomorrow's Joe), which is a bit surprising!
Ashita no Shiro has private rooms and dormitories (shared rooms for men and women), both of which are only for sleeping. Televisions are only available in the dining room and hall on the first floor. In this dining room and hall, guests enjoy their meals together with other guests. Please note, however, that meals will not be served until the new Corona is settled (*as of May 2021).
The inn enjoys the company of its unique owner and other guests, so we hope the day when it can return to normal business operations will come soon.
