Experience Hokkaido's Great Outdoors at Ashita no Joh, a Guesthouse Surrounded by Nature!

If you're making the trip all the way to Hokkaido, why not choose accommodation that truly embodies the spirit of the region?
For instance, how about a guesthouse standing alone, completely surrounded by the vast wilderness?

"Ashita no Joh," located in the Soya region of Northern Hokkaido, is exactly that kind of place. Beyond its unique name, the guesthouse's charming exterior is captivating. Let's pay a visit, full of anticipation.

Ashita no Joh sits on a small hill in the Sarobetsu Plain. Just how surrounded by nature it is becomes crystal clear from an aerial photo.
It's a guesthouse built in what is literally the middle of nowhere, amidst a vast, natural landscape. And this very fact—being "in the middle of a vast, natural landscape"—is the greatest charm of Ashita no Joh. Breathing in the fresh air, leisurely watching the sunrise over the Sarobetsu Plain, listening to the chirping of wild birds, or gazing up at a sky full of brilliant stars... It’s a powerful reminder that to fully enjoy Hokkaido is to fully enjoy its nature.
Of course, the surrounding environment changes dramatically with the seasons. Guests seem to enjoy each season in their own way, whether it's traveling across Hokkaido on motorcycles in the summer or enjoying snow activities like snowshoeing in the winter. The owner, originally from Nagasaki, started the guesthouse in 1977, and it has since attracted many regular guests. By the way, the owner isn't a fan of the manga "Ashita no Joe," which is a little surprising, isn't it!?

Ashita no Joh offers private rooms and dormitories (separated by gender), both of which are simply equipped for sleeping. The only TV is in the first-floor dining and common area. In this space, guests enjoy meals together. However, please note that meals are not being served until the COVID-19 situation subsides (as of May 2021).

It's a delightful inn where you can enjoy interacting with the unique owner and other guests. We hope the day comes soon when they can return to normal operations.
