Yuni Town

Yuni Garden in Yuni Town is about an hour's drive from Sapporo. It is a garden rich in nature with 15 theme gardens spread across a vast 14-hectare site. A new area was opened in the garden in August 2021! The new area is the "Kochia Hill," where 32,000 Kochia plants, also known as "broom grass," are planted. At Yuni Garden, colorful flowers bloom according to the season, delighting the eyes of visitors, but the new area is already gaining popularity for its cuteness. The photo was taken on September 13, 2021. The fluffy green mass creates a truly adorable sight. A few days later, when they are at their best, they will turn red.

You can see that it has become quite dark in color. Furthermore, when I took the photo on October 5, 2021, it had turned a withered color. The pale mottled pattern is also beautiful. The cafeteria "Basil" on the first floor of the Center House in Uni Garden has launched a new maritozzo using Warakudo's rare cheese, inspired by the adorable kochia. It's called "Red and Green Kochia Maritozzo." Also, the Yuni Garden's original soft serve ice cream made with Hokkaido blueberries is very popular, so be sure to try it! If you're tired from all that walking and hungry, or want to eat something more substantial, we recommend the restaurant "Chibu" on the second floor of the same center house. You can enjoy a healthy lunch buffet, centered around spring vegetables harvested in the garden, Yuni Town, and the surrounding area. The colorful dishes, which look like they contain a lot of vegetables, are sure to whet your appetite. In addition to the Kochia Hill that we introduced this time, there are plenty of photogenic spots, such as the rose garden where you can see various roses and rosehips, and the path where you will be greeted by 400 hydrangeas. Take a walk and find your favorite flower.

However, naturally, each flower has a different blooming period. Yuni Garden is large and covers a wide area, so be sure to check the official website or Facebook page before heading out to see when the best time to visit is. Yunni no Yu, located right next to the garden, is also very popular, and many people enjoy the garden and hot springs together.
