The year 2024 marks the 70th anniversary of the merger of the former Matsumae Town, Oshima Village, Kojima Village, and Osawa Village into the current "Matsumae Town" in 1954. It is also the 40th anniversary of the establishment of sister cities with Date City (formerly Yangagawa Town) in Fukushima Prefecture, Omi Hachiman City in Shiga Prefecture, and friendship city Hikone City in Shiga Prefecture.

To commemorate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the new town and the 40th anniversary of the sister city relationship, we will hold an event bringing together gourmet foods from Matsumae and its sister cities.
