The Kanrin Maru, which played an active role at the end of the Edo period, achieving the first trans-Pacific sailing, ran aground and sank off Cape Saraki in Kikonai Town, and remains to this day in the seas of Kikonai. A variety of events will enliven Kikonai in the summer, including a stage show themed around the Kanrin Maru, as well as the Yosakoi Enbuya Bon Odori dance. This festival allows you to fully experience the romance of history and the charm of the region.
