"Uma (horse)" and "UMA (Unidentified Mysterious Animal)" — From this coincidental sound match, this journey begins. From October 2025, artists have been staying in Shiraoi, continuing creative activities while gaining inspiration from Shiraoi's culture, environment, and various encounters, and have been preparing for this special exhibition. While sensing the humidity of the sea, the coldness of the wind, the body temperature of horses, and encounters with people, we search for forms that can only be born in this land. Going back and forth between abstraction and figuration, reality and dreams, we will establish "unidentified landscapes." A place where people and nature, reality and fantasy melt together — from within that breath, a new life named UMA is being born.

Jiachen Jin

Born in China, residing in Aichi Prefecture. Completed Aichi Prefectural University of the Arts Graduate School Master's Program, Oil Painting and Printmaking field. She depicts sensations that arise in daily life and emotions accumulated in the body as an "archive of emotions." She permeates water and paint into unprimed cotton cloth, capturing moments when layers of memories and emotions that are not yet words emerge within the randomness of bleeding.
Held solo exhibitions "An elephant in my heart" (Shanghai), "Running Beast," "Mom, there's a small elephant in my heart" (Tokyo), "Salting Your Shadow" (Nagoya). Participated in the Artist in Residence Program "ASP" in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, and conducted a residency production.

Born in Okazaki City, Aichi Prefecture, residing in Tokyo. Completed Tokyo University of the Arts Graduate School Master's Program, Fine Arts Research Department, Oil Painting Major.
