Sunpiazza Aquarium

The only aquarium in Sapporo not facing the sea, within walking distance of both JR and subway

A compact urban aquarium adjacent to a large shopping center and a short walk from JR and subway stations. The attraction is that visitors can enjoy a tour of the aquarium along with shopping and dining in the city. Exhibits include saltwater fish, crustaceans, and rare freshwater fish from a wide area, from the surrounding seas of Hokkaido to the southern seas inhabited by coral reefs. In addition to the Gomafu seals, Iwatobi penguins, and otters that are popular for their lovable movements, there is also a clione, the "angel of the drift ice. In addition to the daily "Fish Circus Show," there is also a feeding show on Sundays and holidays in the migratory tank where about 1,500 fish swim. Visitors can also touch crabs and starfish in the "touching pool.
