Gyoja Falls
Magnificent scenery hidden in the silence deep in the mountains
Gyoja Falls, where ascetics once prayed for healing from incurable diseases while being struck by the waterfall. All you can hear is the sound of the waterfall and the chirping of birds, and all you can see is the green of the trees and the spray of water. A magnificent view deep in the mountains of Kamiokobe. Feel the untouched nature directly.
Named after a female ascetic who prayed to be cured of an incurable disease while being struck by this waterfall in the late Meiji period (1868-1912). Even today, many visitors still come to see the waterfall.
The Gyoja Falls Festival was held every year on July 19, where a Buddhist memorial service and prayers were held, but it has not been held since 2020.
