A historic pass rooted in people's lives

National Route 391 leads to Shimizu Town. At its boundary is the Nogami Pass, which is 320 meters above sea level. Although called a pass, it is a relatively low-lying pass that leads through a forest. Although there are no spectacular views to amaze anyone, the fumes from Mt.
The pass was opened in 1890 by prisoners in only three months. It is said that many people lost their lives due to the hard labor. The historic pass was not closed until the end, even during winter blizzards, and continues to support people's lives by serving as a lifeline for their livelihood.
