Kawayu Onsen
Overview
Kawayu Onsen is located in Teshikaga Town, Hokkaido, within Akan-Mashu National Park. It is a hot spring town filled with the scent of sulfur, surrounded by vast nature with views of Lake Mashu to the east and Lake Kussharo to the west. The water quality is that of an alum and vitriol spring containing strongly acidic hydrogen sulfide, a unique volcanic type that is rare even in Japan. Many people regularly visit from afar, and it has long been cherished by many as a therapeutic spring.
