Kawayu Onsen is located in Akan Mashu National Park in Teshikaga Town, Hokkaido.
Kawayu Onsen is a hot spring resort surrounded by nature with Lake Mashu to the east and Lake Kussharo to the west, and is filled with the scent of sulfur.
The springs are unique in that they are one of the few volcanic springs in Japan that contain hydrogen sulfide, a strong acidic substance, and many people regularly come from far and wide to take advantage of their therapeutic qualities.
