Fairy Tale Hill
"Fairy Tale Hill" is a place where fields line the gently rolling hills, creating beautiful rural scenery in every season. This was also the location for the late director Akira Kurosawa's film "Dreams." The idyllic scenery of the fields and sky is an impressive viewpoint. It is located along National Route 39 from Memanbetsu City in Ozora Town to Abashiri City, and the landmark is a tree standing on a small hill.
Fields of potatoes, wheat, beans, beets, and other crops stretch out as far as the eye can see, and the hills change color with the seasons, from green in spring to the white of potato flowers in summer and the golden yellow of wheat in autumn, creating many picturesque landscapes.
There is also a "Scenic Deck" installed by the East Okhotsk Scenic Byway, which aims to "create beautiful scenery, a vibrant region, and an attractive tourist space." The rural scenery from summer to winter, and the scenery of trees standing in the snow in winter are also beautiful views.
When you look at the autumn sky, the reddish color of the sky is a very fantastic hue, and the scenery is so beautiful that you will lose track of time. Please come to Fairy Tale Hill where you can encounter beautiful scenery in every season.
