Ebetsu City Glass Art Museum
The "Former Ishida Residence" (built around 1945) was preserved and renovated by Ebetsu Goodwill as a symbolic building, and opened in April 1994. The interior is used as the studio of glass craftsman Hitoshi Kakizaki, where you can see him at work, see his works, and even try your hand at glass blowing.
The former Ishida Residence is a three-story brick house built around 1945 by Sokichi Ishida, a Hokkai Brick Mason, with a mansard roof in the shape of a Shogi piece and semicircular windows. It has been the subject of paintings and photographs, and was widely known and loved by the citizens.
