Kuon Shrine

The shrine is located on a hill overlooking the sea in Taisei Ward. It was built in 1704 at Aza-usubetsu, Hiratauchi-mura and called Usubetsu Shrine. Until the first year of Meiji (1868), the shrine was called Inari Shrine and enshrined two deities, Ousutsujin and Ama-no-Ukemura, but in the 2nd year of Meiji (1869), Amaterujin was added and the name was changed to Kuon Shrine, which has been observing the local history for a long time. Currently, the shrine office sells amulets and sacred cards as well as red seals. A red seal application form is available for when the priest is not at the shrine, and it can be mailed to you at a later date. The "Ota Shrine" also provides red seals. The Shinto priest is involved in the transmission and preservation of "Matsumae Kagura," which is designated as a National Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property, in various locations.

(Good luck charms and sacred fuda are given at the shrine office.
When the priest is not at the shrine, red seals can be sent by mail. If you wish to receive a red seal by mail, please fill out the reception form at the shrine office and pay the first fee and postage at the donation box.
