Shihoro Highland is an excellent viewpoint offering a panoramic view of the Tokachi Plain. On clear days, you can see the horizon stretching far into the distance from an altitude of 600m.

A 20-minute drive from Shihoro town, a pleasant drive up a gentle slope brings you closer and closer to Higashi-Nupukaushinupuri of the Daisetsuzan mountain range. Captivated by its magnificence, you arrive, and upon turning around, the grand panoramic view that spreads before your eyes will take your breath away. It is a luxurious place where you can feel the clear air and wind with your whole body while looking out over the endlessly spreading Tokachi Plain.

You can have the great outdoors all to yourself at the campground, or stay in a cottage with a kitchen as if it were your own villa. Forget about time and fully enjoy the great outdoors. At night, the star-filled sky is fantastical and is sure to be etched in your memory of the trip. At the Yakiniku House, you can savor Genghis Khan (mutton barbecue) and Shihoro beef (reservations required), and Lodge Nupuka offers an extensive cafe menu, making it a spot you'll definitely want to stop by on a drive.

The mountainous area within the park is a field where you can directly experience the great nature of Hokkaido, inhabited by animals such as Yezo sika deer, northern pikas, Ezo red squirrels, red foxes, and brown bears, in addition to various bird species including the great spotted woodpecker, Japanese bush warbler, hazel grouse, and meadow bunting.

In addition to facilities on-site such as an observation deck with a panoramic view of the Tokachi Plain, a popular wooden trim playground for children, and an alpine botanical garden where you can see the vegetation of the Daisetsuzan mountain range, you can also experience many tourist spots and activities in the surrounding area, such as climbing Mt. Hakuun, Lake Shikaribetsu, Nupuka Farm, and Shihoro Onsen.
