すずらんのロケは平成10年12月と平成11年5月の2回行われ、「すずらん」の多くの出演者が沼田を訪れ、エキストラとして多くの沼田町民が協力しました。
第1次ロケは大正時代と昭和初期の駅前通りのシーンを中心に雪の降る寒い中で撮影が行われました。
第2次ロケは昭和初期の時代のSLの乗り降りのシーンを中心に撮影が行われました。

■明日萌駅になった恵比島駅
「すずらん」の主人公である“萌”は明日萌という小さな駅（架空の駅）で駅長に拾われ、様々な逆境を乗り越えて成長していきます。
その物語の舞台となるのが、JR留萌本線の恵比島駅。恵比島駅が選ばれたのは、線路がどこまでも一直線であること。昭和初期にあっては困るような現代的なものが駅周辺にはないこと、駅前の広場と道路がメインストリートとしての雰囲気がある、といった理由からでした。
実際の恵比島駅は明治40年9月に駅舎が改築されその後、昭和61年11月に駅舎が取り壊され、緩急車を改造した簡易駅舎が置かれた無人駅となりました。今回ドラマを撮影するにあたりその簡易駅舎を古材で覆い、その横にドラマのための昭和初期の駅舎が再現されました。
The filming for Suzuran was carried out 2 times, in December Heisei 10 and May Heisei 11, and many cast members of "Suzuran" visited Numata, and many Numata townspeople cooperated as extras.
The first filming was carried out in the cold with falling snow, centered on the station front street scenes of the Taisho era and early Showa era.
The second filming was carried out centered on the SL boarding and alighting scenes of the early Showa era.

■ Ebishima Station, which became Ashimo Station
"Suzuran"'s protagonist, "Moe," was picked up by the station master at a small station called Ashimo (a fictional station), and will grow, overcoming various adversities.
The stage for that story is Ebishima Station on the JR Rumoi Main Line. Ebishima Station was chosen because the railway tracks are straight as far as the eye can see. It was for reasons such as modern things that would be problematic in the early Showa era are not around the station, and the station square and road have the atmosphere of a main street.
The actual Ebishima Station's station building was renovated in September Meiji 40, and after that, in November Showa 61, the station building was demolished, and a caboose-modified simple station building was placed, and it became an unmanned station. This time, when filming the drama, that simple station building was covered with old materials, and next to it, an early Showa era station building for the drama was recreated.
