Crawford Park (Mikasa Railway Village Mikasa Zone)
Crawford Park was named by means of nickname applications from citizens, after the American "Joseph Ury Crawford," an American who, in the early Meiji period, as an advisor to the Hokkaido Colonization Office, supervised the construction of the Horonai Railway with the purpose of coal transportation, and introduced American railway technology to Hokkaido.
As a place of relaxation for citizens, utilizing the area around the former Mikasa Station, it was completed in Heisei 2 (1990), and within the park, where the entire area is covered with grass, there is an outdoor stage, the Horonai-Futo Station building (later Mikasa Station) which recreates the appearance of that time, and in addition, an overpass that reminds one of the former Mikasa Station remains, and valuable trains are exhibited.
Currently, at the Horonai-Futo Station building, reception for the Mikasa Torokko Railway experience and sales of various railway-related goods, etc., are also being conducted.
