It is a relic lake located in an urban area, and it is designated as a national natural monument as the habitat of hibuna.
Bird species that fly in are more than 130 species, and lakeside plants amount to approximately 400 species, and so on, it is an area where the breath of nature is rich.
The surroundings have become Harutori Park, and there exist numerous highlights and relaxation spots, such as the Harutori Lake Nature Center explaining nature information, a promenade following along the lakeside, and a wild bird observation hut.
