SPOT
Mt. Female Akan
Female Akan is the main peak of the Akan Mountain Range, located southwest of Lake Akan. It is an active volcano with an elevation of 1,499 meters and has been called "Machinesiri" in the Ainu language because of its gentle and feminine appearance. There are three trails: the Akan Lakeside Course (5 hours and 10 minutes round trip on average) where you can enjoy forest bathing and a view that suddenly opens up, mainly in the Akaezomatsu and Abies sachalinensis forests; the Female Akan Onsen Course (4 hours and 10 minutes round trip) which has a shorter course time and a slightly steep climb but offers a good view; and the Akan Kozan Course (4 hours and 10 minutes round trip) which has a view of the Kokemomo, Ganko Uranium, Iwagiki-Uranium, and Iwagiki-Uranium mountains. The Onneto Course (4 hours and 50 minutes round trip) is also available. On the way to the summit, climbers can see many alpine plants such as "mea-kan-kinbai" and "mea-kan-husuma," named after Mt. The best time to climb the mountain is from June to October.
