The Akan International Crane Center Gurus is the only facility in Japan dedicated to the research, dissemination of information, and protection of red-crowned cranes. The facility has an exhibition and interpretation area, and visitors can observe red-crowned cranes being raised in near-natural conditions outdoors all year round. from November to March, artificial feeding is conducted at the adjacent "Branch Crane Observation Center," and when the number is high, nearly 300 wild cranes can be seen.
