SPOT
Northwest of the city area, on the coastline with the Shokotsu River in between, extending for 1 km, is the Hanazono Omusaro Primeval Flower Garden. It is a treasure house of nature where colorful flowers adorn the summer of Okhotsk. Including the crimson Japanese rose, as many as about 50 kinds of beautiful native flowering plants captivate viewers. Perhaps the Shirobana Hamanasu (Japanese rose with white petals) might be seen. Nearby, there is the Omusaro Historic Site Park, a Hokkaido-designated historic site. Also, in winter, you can view the drift ice.
