SPOT
Cape Peshi Observation Deck
Overview
Cape Peshi is a huge 90-meter-high rocky hill located in Oshidomari Port. Also known as "Toutai-yama" (Mt. Toutai), there is an observatory, graves of Aizu domain warriors, and the lighthouse of Oshidomari, and it is a steep walk to the top. On a clear day, it is a scenic spot from which you can see Mt. Rishiri, Rebun Island, and even Wakkanai City on the mainland of Hokkaido! It is also a famous place for sunrise viewing. Today, there is only one Cape Peshi, but there used to be two rocky peaks. The small rocky hill that used to be there was blasted as a building material for Wakkanai Port and became what it is today.
