Otaru City General Museum Main Building

In Otaru City General Museum Main Building, including steam locomotive "Shizuka-go", as many as 50 railway vehicles representing Hokkaido are preserved and exhibited.

There is a permanent exhibition introducing the history of Hokkaido Railway. Inside the museum, there is a science exhibition room where you can learn through a planetarium and experiences, and on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, you can also do simple experiments and crafts at the Challenge Lab.

Also, in the special exhibition room, exhibitions based on various themes such as history, nature, and science are being held.

Important Cultural Property Former Temiya Railway Facility "Locomotive Shed No. 3" is open to the public. Also, for a limited time, you can experience a ride on a Meiji-style mixed freight and passenger train pulled by Hokkaido's oldest dynamically preserved steam locomotive, Iron Horse-go.
