Shiretoko Nature Center
Visitor Center for learning and enjoying the field
Shiretoko Nature Center reopened in April 2016 as a visitor center for learning and enjoying the field! It provides up-to-date information useful for mountain climbing, trekking, and nature observation, and also sells and rents outdoor goods.
The "THE NORTH FACE / HELLY HANSEN Shiretoko Store," a field-based store that actively supports outdoor activities in Shiretoko, sells goods exclusive to Shiretoko, and "BARISTARET COFFEE SHIRETOKO" offers Hokkaido milk latte using Hokkaido milk and lunch using local ingredients.
In the video hall featuring a giant screen 12m high x 20m wide, new programs are available in addition to "Four Seasons, Shiretoko" (with English and Chinese subtitles), which introduces the natural beauty of Shiretoko through dynamic aerial photography. In the Lecture Corner, staff members provide seasonal information on nature and brown bears. Free Wi-Fi is available.
