Rausu
One of the 100 most famous mountains in Japan and one of the 100 most famous mountains for flowers, Rausu is the highest peak in the Shiretoko volcano group rising in the Shiretoko Peninsula at 1,661 meters above sea level.
It is also called Shiretoko Fuji.
Shiretoko, and can be seen up close from the Shiretoko Pass.
Despite the extremely harsh nature of the mountain and the high degree of difficulty of climbing it, with much lingering snow even in July and snow beginning to fall as early as September, it is a popular destination for climbers from all over the country.
The mountain is also a habitat for brown bears, so please contact the Shiretoko Rausu Visitor Center for more information before climbing.
