Lake Rausu is a secluded lake deep in the Shiretoko Peninsula.
The largest lake on the Shiretoko Peninsula, it used to be a mysterious lake known only to those in the know, but now a trekking route has been developed, and it is possible to visit the lake on guided trekking tours.

It is a precious place with unspoiled nature, and visitors can enjoy different spectacular scenery in spring, summer, and fall.
The round-trip trek is about 6 km and takes about 3 hours, and is a rare opportunity to experience the real nature that can only be found in this area.

However, please note that the area is a habitat for bears, and that you must follow the rules of the park to protect the pristine nature, including the precious alpine flora.
