The Road to Heaven
A straight road with a total length of approximately 28.1 km
National Routes 244 to 334 are a straight road with a total length of about 28.1 km. It was named after the fact that the straight road looks like it continues to the sky. Heading from Utoro to Shari on National Route 334, turn left at Minehama, go up the hill with the ski resort on your left, and then turn right at the end of the road to see it.
Some people head towards Utoro from Shari, but this is the opposite direction, so if you want to be amazed when the "Road to Heaven" suddenly appears, it is recommended to follow the route from Minehama. A parking lot (8 cars) and a simple deck were newly built on June 19, 2018.
There is also an observation deck (with parking for about 5 cars) nearby that overlooks the Sea of Okhotsk and the fields. Twice a year (around the spring and autumn equinoxes), you can see the sun setting over the road (depending on the snow conditions, the road may not be open on the spring equinox). *In winter, the road is not cleared of snow, so it is not accessible. *Please do not enter the surrounding fields.
