SPOT
Hokkaido Home School
The Hokkaido Engaru Home School, Hokkaido's only private facility for supporting the self-reliance of children, is located on a hillside in the mountains about 4 km west of downtown Engaru. This facility began in 1914 when the founder, Kosuke Tomeoka, built a reformatory for boys in this area. Inside the facility is a chapel (built in 1919) that seems to tell the history of the school and has become a tourist attraction of the town.
If you wish to visit, please contact the school in advance.
