Shiozeko Park
"Shiretoko Tabijo" is a famous song by Hisaya Morishige that begins with "When Hamanasu Blooms at Shoritokonomisaki (Shiretoko Cape). A bronze statue of Hisaya Morishige stands in Shiozekaze Park, which commands a panoramic view of the Nemuro Straits and Kunashiri Island.
A statue of an "Okhotsk old man" was built in commemoration of the filming of the movie "The Life on the Edge of the Earth" with Hisaya Morishige as the model.
It is said that Hisaya Morishige wrote "Shiretoko Tabijo" ("Farewell Rausu Yo" in the original title) as a thank you to the people of Rausu when he stayed in Rausu Town for the filming of the movie.
This park has a literal travel atmosphere, and is definitely worth a visit when exploring Rausu Town.
