SPOT 1 "Kitami Flower Paradise (Kitami City)" - Cherry blossoms filling the vast grounds

Kitami Flower Paradise

Approximately 30,000 flowers of 85 different species bloom in each season on a vast site roughly the size of six Tokyo Domes. In spring, you can see flowers such as Ezo mountain cherry blossoms, Ezo purple azaleas, magnolias, and tulips. In summer, you can enjoy hydrangeas and roses, and in autumn, you can enjoy the beautiful combination of flowers and greenery, from autumn leaves to chrysanthemums.

SPOT 2 Kotohira Sakura Park (Kitami City) - A mountain of cherry blossoms covered in pale pink

Kotohira Sakura Park

This is Kitami City's most famous cherry blossom spot, with about 650 Siberian wild cherry trees blooming on the mountainside. In addition to Siberian wild cherry trees, rows of cherry trees including double-flowered cherry trees and Yoshino cherry trees are lined up, and many cherry trees bloom at the neighboring Kotohira Shrine, so the entire mountain is covered in cherry blossoms. Within the shrine grounds, festivals are held during the cherry blossom season that the whole family can enjoy, including festivals, karaoke, and game tournaments.

Sun Hill Engaru Park

This is a vast park of about 65 hectares that is filled with colorful flowers from the top to the base of a hill. From spring to early summer, you can enjoy a variety of flowers, including Siberian cherry blossoms, pale pink moss phlox, and azaleas, and from summer to autumn, 10 million cosmos flowers. The park also has a viewing ranch, and on clear days you can see all the way to the Sea of Okhotsk.

The Twin Cherry Trees are two Siberian cherry trees that stand side by side on the hill behind the Tsubetsu Wood Craft Museum Kinos. A picture book themed around this tree has also been published. Their quiet, close appearance gives viewers a mysterious sense of happiness.

Recreational Park

In the spring, the Recreation Park is filled with the vivid blooms of Ezoyamazakura and Shibazakura, and in the summer you can enjoy outdoor activities such as barbecues and picnics, in the fall you can enjoy the autumn leaves, and in the winter you can ski. There is also a children's playground where children can play with rope climbing, Tarzan ropes, and wooden playground equipment.

Sakura Falls is 2.5m high, and in spring the cherry blossoms around the falls bloom, and from June to August you can see cherry salmon jumping over the falls. This is a rare spot to see the beautiful scenery of the spring cherry blossoms and waterfall, the strength of the cherry salmon from June onwards, and the fish turning pink in August as spawning approaches.

Nakashibetsu Town Maruyama Park

Nakashibetsu Town Maruyama Park was built on the former riverbed of the Shibetsu River. At the yakiniku corner under the 200 cherry trees, you can enjoy cherry blossom viewing while eating yakiniku, and from the mountain in the center of the park you can get a panoramic view of the city. There is also a local museum in the park where you can learn about the history of the town's pioneering days.
