2 A Mountain Covered in Pale Pink: Kotohira Sakura Park (Kitami City)

This is Kitami City's premier cherry blossom spot, with about 650 Ezo mountain cherry trees blooming on the mountainside. In addition to the Ezo mountain cherry trees, there are rows of double-flowered cherry trees and Somei Yoshino cherry trees, and many more cherry trees bloom at the adjacent Kotohira Shrine, covering the entire mountain. During the cherry blossom season, the shrine grounds host festivals with food stalls, karaoke, and game tournaments that the whole family can enjoy.

3 Enjoy Cherry Blossoms and Moss Phlox at the Same Time: Taiyo-no-Oka Engaru Park (Engaru Town)

This vast 65-hectare park utilizes an entire hill, from its summit to its base, filling it with vibrant flowers. From spring to early summer, Ezo mountain cherry trees, pale pink moss phlox (shibazakura), and azaleas are in full bloom. From summer to autumn, you can enjoy a variety of flowers, including 10 million cosmos flowers. The park also has the Miharashi Farm, offering a panoramic view that can stretch all the way to the Sea of Okhotsk on a clear day.

4 Two Ezo Mountain Cherry Trees Standing Side by Side: The Twin Cherry Trees (Tsubetsu Town)

The Twin Cherry Trees are two Ezo mountain cherry trees that stand side-by-side on a hill behind the Tsubetsu Woodcraft Museum 'Kinos'. A picture book has even been published based on these trees. Their quiet, embracing appearance brings a mysterious sense of happiness to those who see them.

5 A Family-Friendly Hanami Spot with Plenty of Playground Equipment: Kunneppu Recreation Park (Kunneppu Town)

At Kunneppu Recreation Park, you can enjoy different activities each season: vibrant Ezo mountain cherry trees and moss phlox in spring, outdoor fun like barbecues and picnics in summer, colorful foliage in autumn, and skiing in winter. There is also a 'Chibikko Hiroba' (Kids' Square) where children can play on equipment like a rope-climbing pyramid, a zipline, and wooden play structures.

6 A Spectacular View of Waterfalls and Cherry Blossoms: Sakura Falls (Kiyosato Town)

Sakura Falls is 2.5 meters high. In spring, cherry trees bloom around the falls, and from June to August, you can watch cherry salmon (sakuramasu) leaping up the waterfall. It's a precious spot where you can see the beautiful scenery of cherry blossoms and the waterfall in spring, the powerful sight of the leaping salmon from June onwards, and the fish changing to a cherry-pink color as they approach the spawning season around August.

7 Satisfy Your Stomach and Soul Under the Cherry Blossoms: Nakashibetsu Maruyama Park (Nakashibetsu Town)

Nakashibetsu Maruyama Park was created on the former riverbed of the Shibetsu River. You can enjoy hanami while having a yakiniku (Japanese BBQ) at the barbecue corner under about 200 cherry trees. From the hill in the center of the park, you can get a panoramic view of the town. There is also a local history museum within the park where you can learn about the history of the town's pioneering days.
