Kitami Flower Paradise

On its vast 28-hectare grounds, 85 varieties and about 30,000 flowers bloom in magnificent fashion throughout the seasons. In spring, you can see flowers like Ezo mountain cherry trees and Ezo purple azaleas. From hydrangeas and roses in summer to autumn foliage and chrysanthemums in the fall, you can enjoy the beautiful harmony of flowers and greenery in every season.

SPOT 2 A Mountain Covered in Pale Pink: Kotohira Sakura Park (Kitami City)

Kotohira Sakura Park

This is Kitami City's premier cherry blossom spot, with about 650 Ezo mountain cherry trees blooming on the mountainside. In addition to the Ezo mountain cherry trees, there are rows of double-flowered cherry trees and Somei Yoshino cherry trees, and many more cherry trees bloom at the adjacent Kotohira Shrine, covering the entire mountain. During the cherry blossom season, the shrine grounds host festivals with food stalls, karaoke, and game tournaments that the whole family can enjoy.

SPOT 5 A Family-Friendly Hanami Spot with Plenty of Playground Equipment: Kunneppu Recreation Park (Kunneppu Town)

Kunneppu Recreation Park

At Kunneppu Recreation Park, you can enjoy different activities each season: vibrant Ezo mountain cherry trees and moss phlox in spring, outdoor fun like barbecues and picnics in summer, colorful foliage in autumn, and skiing in winter. There is also a 'Chibikko Hiroba' (Kids' Square) where children can play on equipment like a rope-climbing pyramid, a zipline, and wooden play structures.

SPOT 6 A Spectacular View of Waterfalls and Cherry Blossoms: Sakura Falls (Kiyosato Town)

Sakura Falls

Sakura Falls is 2.5 meters high. In spring, cherry trees bloom around the falls, and from June to August, you can watch cherry salmon (sakuramasu) leaping up the waterfall. It's a precious spot where you can see the beautiful scenery of cherry blossoms and the waterfall in spring, the powerful sight of the leaping salmon from June onwards, and the fish changing to a cherry-pink color as they approach the spawning season around August.

Nakashibetsu Maruyama Park was created on the former riverbed of the Shibetsu River. You can enjoy hanami while having a yakiniku (Japanese BBQ) at the barbecue corner under about 200 cherry trees. From the hill in the center of the park, you can get a panoramic view of the town.
