Jozankei Onsen is famous for being the backwaters of Sapporo. While relaxing in an onsen ryokan is wonderful, there are also many other things to do, even if you only stop by for a quick drive. The key word is "Sadazan Fountainhead Park!

Jozan Fountainhead Park is located at the foot of Tsukimi Bridge in the center of Jozankei Onsen district. The park was opened in 2005 to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the birth of a monk named Miizumi Jozan, who pioneered Jozankei Onsen.

Admission is free from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and there are many ways to keep visitors entertained, such as a statue of Jozan Bisen and a panel with his face on it.

The most popular of all is the footbath! Visitors take off their shoes one after another, go barefoot, and soak in the footbath, as it is an easy way to enjoy Jozankei Onsen. However, towels are not provided, so visitors must bring their own.

Another must-see experience here is the "On-tama-no-yu," where visitors can use the hot spring water (over 80°C) to make onsen tamago (hot spring eggs) .......

The process is simple! All you have to do is hang a raw egg in a net on a stick and soak it in the Ontama no Yu (hot spring water) for a specified period of time.

If you think preparing raw eggs and nets is a hassle, don't worry! You can purchase eggs with nets at the souvenir store "Jozankei Bussan Kan" located across Tsukimi Bridge.

Onsen eggs actually made in the hot spring are very special and thick! Without a bowl, you cannot eat them on the spot, but if you purchase eggs at Jozankei Bussan Kan, they will provide you with a bowl and salt as a service, so you can enjoy them to the fullest.

Even if you do not make a reservation at a ryokan, you can still enjoy the feeling of a hot spring by visiting Jozan Fountainhead Park. In addition to this place, there are several other places where you can enjoy footbaths and hand baths in the hot spring resort area, so you may want to look for them.
